Memorial Day Weekend, and the weirding of America

As America celebrates Memorial Day Weekend -- with the scent and buzz of barbecue in the air -- we have much to be concerned about. Local elections are on the horizon and we'd better choose carefully -- and prayerfully. We need to consider what took place in the last national election, and what has happened since. Many people find themselves saying, "I don't believe this is happening!" But it is.

What?

Well, that would take pages and pages to write about, and I'm smart enough to leave that with those who have eloquent expertise such as the American Family Association. But let's just say it gets weirder and weirder. If you don't believe me, check out American politics on snopes.com and see what's true and what isn't.

For example, it is true that they're building a Mosque right next to where the NY Trade Towers were -- where the 911 tragedy took place. Hard to believe isn't it? But it's true.

Still, I said I would write about it here so I won't. (Otherwise I'd also have to write about the increasing earthquakes, volcano eruptions, oil spill etc. to put it all in context.) We need to be vigilant and wise, think hard and pray. What is happening in this country is NOT normal. But, given what the Bible predicts will happen before Jesus' second coming, I guess it's to be expected. So, in that respect -- and only in that respect -- woo hoo!!!!!

Now, back to Memorial Day Weekend, this is a good time to pray for our military -- those that seek to protect our country's freedom -- and to pray for their families. Read my latest article on this subject in The Examiner.

Why are we making politics about race?

I’m stunned that we’ve made politics a racial issue. No one could be happier than me that that equal opportunities are being given to all Americans—regardless of their color. No one could be more disgusted than me that race was ever a reason to boycott someone or hinder them from entering into the same opportunities as their peers. Racism is despicable. Thus, in that respect, I can understand that many would celebrate the inauguration of a black president (although, in reality, he’s as much white as black; he’s multi racial).

But to celebrate primarily because of the president’s color—and to ignore his political stand—is like being an ostrich suffering of HITSS: Head In The Sand Syndrome. It’s insane.

I’m not a politician—although I have several personal friends who are—but I do know that politics should be revolve around policies and our concern should be whether they align themselves with our belief system. Policies are the issue. Not race.

The question we need to ask ourselves is: Are the new policies being brought in by the new president compatible with our belief system? You have to define what you believe. Do you believe in absolutes? In the Bible? Is it OK to take our hard earned tax money and spend it on abortions (which, in my book, amounts to killing babies not unlike the practices of cult worshipers in the Old Testament)? You decide. (I already have.)

The problem, though, is that too many have been mesmerized by media mania and Hollywoodish euphoria. Consequently, too many don’t even know what the new policies are; they don’t grasp the implications of what the new regime is propagating. Well, since I’m not a politician, I’m not going to try to enlighten you. But there’s someone I greatly admire who could tell you clearly what is going on, and that’s Ann Coulter.

Ann Coulter was interviewed on the Dr.Phil show this week together with some other key thinkers. Her take on the new B. Husein Obama is enlighteningly brilliant. Check it out.

I highly recommend reading Ann Coulter’s blog. She’s feisty, funny, free thinking and doesn’t mince her words -- a voice in the wilderness, a genius with a biblical world view. Check out for yourself.

Palin pales her opponent – a voice in the wilderness.

Just when I was tempted to think there’s no hope left for America, a voice in the wilderness comes forth to speak some words of wisdom: Sarah Palin.

No, I’m not good with politics. But I’m not stupid either (dah!) While I don’t believe all the propaganda that flies around – whether regarding Democrats or Republicans or even Hollywoodians for that matter – I know when something clashes with Bible values, or supports them. Sarah Palin’s speech at the Republican Convention rang true to me. I hope it did to you too.

So far, I’ve been more impressed by Cindy McCain than her husband. But since Palin’s been brought into the picture, I’m much more confident that McCain could step up the plate if he is voted in. (No, I’m not a feminist at all, but with two wonderful women to back him up, John McCain’s surely gained points.)

I wonder if Mrs. Palin is an answer to prayers. Is she a sort of Deborah, a voice in the wilderness during dark times? So many Christians are disgusted by the over-indulgent spotlight on the Democrats – and are concerned about what this party’s leader promises Maybe their concern made them pray more? I don’t know. But I’m encouraged. But let’s not let up praying. May God’s will be done. And His alone. And may He find us obedient to do our part in ushering it in.
