I also read and enjoyed The River. It's really a book about trusting God, letting go of past hurts so that you can move forward in life. It's an inspiring story about the possibilities that unfold when you are willing to take a risk. Life with God is meant to be an adventure--this book reminded me of that truth! Great review. There's a scripture in the bible that says, "forsake not the assembling of yourself".

In other words, don't stop going to church.

I didn't read your whole post, but I figure one reason alot of men don't go is out of pride. Figuring that they don't need anything or anybody, and they can do it themselves.

I agree. You won’t find the actually phrase “going to church” in the NKJ Bible. Nor will you find such wording as:
Trinity, Rapture, Sunday School …
But the concepts are clearly there.

The word church (‘ekklesia’) is actually in the Bible. All followers of Jesus are part of God’s church. When followers of Jesus meet together, they reveal the church.

As far as the book goes, I’m not the author. I simply reviewed it.

Was wondering...

I can’t seem to find anyone - “Going to Church” - In my antiquated KJV.

Could the simple reason for “Why Men Hate Going to Church” be...
It’s NOT in the Bible.

In the Bible...
Jesus never mentioned to “His Disciples” about “Going to Church.”
NOT one “Disciple of Christ” taught about, or mentioned, “Going to Church.”
There are NO men and NO women - “Going to Church.”

Seems to me, these “Men Who Hate Going to Church,”
are a lot more biblical then those who do...
Because, NO one - man or women - was “Going to Church” in the Bible. ;-)

What is popular is not always “Truth.”
What is “Truth” is not always popular.

Can't wait to see this film. Did you know there's a book that goes with this film, called Fast Living: How the Church Will End Extreme Poverty by Scott Todd. It is positive and inspiring, talks about the progress already achieved in the war on poverty, and delves into the theology and biblical reasons Christians need to care for the poor. The book really inspired and motivated me!

I saw this film and it has opened up great conversation with our kids about how to help protect children from sex trafficking by sponsoring kids. It also helped increase how grateful our kids are for what we have, and build their desire to give. Great stuff!
