With all that's going
on in the world right now (crazy, right?), the subject of eternity is
perpetually on my mind. And many people are of the same mind. That's why Eternity by Randy Alcorn makes a great
read (or should I say it’s fun to look at and
read since it's a graphic novel?).
Eternity written by
New York Times bestseller, Randy Alcorn, is a colorful graphic novel produced
by Kingstone Comics.
The story draws from different Bible characters and weaves
in diverse sections of the Bible to deliver the message of eternity: Everyone
will go somewhere when they die. Alcorn explains Paradise and the resurrection
(the bodily resurrection of believers). It highlights the believers entrance
into Heaven and angelic warfare as it plays out in a battle aimed at thwarting
God’s plan for His people – and so on.
The artwork in Eternity
is highly colorful and tastefully done, albeit in comic-strip style. Jesus,
refreshingly, is portrayed as an ordinary Hebrew man, rather than the weak
wimpy image given in so many books (although it looks as if his eyes are
lighter than a mid-easterner would typically have).
The book is printed on high quality, semi-glossy paper,
making it durable so that it can be easily read and passed on to others. (Hey,
who knows how many people might stumble upon this book after the Rapture! Imagine the salubrious
repercussions that would bring.)
Eternity can be
used as an evangelistic tool as well as a simple study of what eternity means.
It’s an easy and fun read with a sobering message. Works well for older
children, teens and adults and would make a marvelous gift.
