Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day

Today, I'm thankful. Thankful to see the crowds standing up for freedom of speech. I'm tired of hearing that we have to tolerate, be politically correct, shut our mouths...I'm wearied of hearing about the promotion of perversion and evil and the squelching and slamming of everything pure and holy.

Today, I'm thankful that America showed her true colors -- at least in my area -- and came out in support of Chick-fil-A. They came to eat chicken and shout out, "Cluck, cluck! We believe in FREEDOM OF SPEECH. We believe in the Bible."

Read about Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day in my Examiner article here.

Stop by again soon. And if you haven't done so already, stop by and buy a yummy meal from your local Chick-fil-A.

Here's a truli marvelous invention that will really help the Christian community interact, share content, spread the word, network, strategize, collaborate...the possibilities are endless. Curious? Wanna know what truli is? Read my latest article based on an interview with Michael Jay Solomon--creator of truli.net--in Assist News Services.

You can also read a slightly different version of the article in my column in The Examiner here.

Given the darkness of the times, I'm encouraged to know that like-minded people can band together and share together for the greater good.

Let Freedom Reign

So...don't know what to do this weekend to celebrate Independence Day? Or maybe you do know what to do but it's all become a bit meaningless. (I mean, how many barbecues can you do before getting sick right?)

If you live in the San Diego area, here's a few awesome events that give greater meaning to freedom. Read about it in my article in The Examiner here.

Debuting in theaters nationwide September 21, 2012, Unconditional Joins Forces with Ministries Serving At-Risk Children & Youth Through Its ACT Campaign
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 19, 2012) – Harbinger Media Partners, LLC presents the captivating drama Unconditional, starring Lynn Collins (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, 50 First Dates, and The Lake House) and Michael Ealy (Think Like a Man, Seven Pounds, 2 Fast 2 Furious, andBarbershop). This inspiring film releases in theaters September 21, and encourages viewers to make a difference in their own communities through its ACT campaign.
When describing the heart of the film, producers Jason Atkins and J. Wesley Legg state that, “No matter how dark your circumstance, working for those forgotten by society brings hope and turns servants into heroes.”
The two also developed Harbinger Media Partners, LLC with the intent on producing entertainment in a true, noble, right, pure, lovely and admirable way. Unconditional serves as its first production and was developed and produced in Nashville, Tenn.
Written and directed by Brent McCorkle, the film tells the story of Samantha Crawford (Lynn Collins), an acclaimed storybook artist, who seemingly had it all until she lost the love she cherished the most. When Sam’s storybook marriage is ripped away from her, she loses her faith and her will to live. Now fighting with despair, Samantha is obsessed with tracking down the murderer of her husband. However, a death-defying encounter with two children leads to a reunion with her oldest friend, Joe Bradford (Michael Ealy)… and begins Sam’s journey back toward God’s unconditional love.
Slowly dying of kidney disease, “Papa” Joe spends his last days serving fatherless children in the under-resourced community where he lives. Observing “Papa” Joe’s tireless love for “his” kids, Sam begins to find new purpose…until she comes face to face with her biggest fear. While she’s drawn to the innocence and hope of a child she’s befriended, the opportunity for revenge is strong.
Unconditional is a stirring film that will touch audiences and challenge them to consider what is most important in their own lives. The movie’s heartfelt themes include reconciliation, second chances, forgiveness, sacrifice and the true meaning of unconditional love.
Modeled after the real-life of “Papa” Joe, Unconditional serves not only to entertain but also inspire moviegoers to serve in areas of need just like Joe Bradford. Currently, Joe Bradford serves seven at-risk communities in and around Nashville through his ministry Elijah’s Heart. It is through this ministry that he champions a citywide multi-racial choir and coordinates walks of love where food and clothing are provided to those in need.
“My dream is that Unconditional inspires cities to unite in love to rescue one of our most precious commodities: thousands of at-risk and fatherless children torn by poverty and oppression,” says Bradford.
Motivated by Bradford’s philanthropic endeavors, Unconditional launched its ACT campaign. The ACT campaign encourages moviegoers to serve alongside scores of non-profit organizations and ministries in their community. Audiences are directed to the film’s site to find where they can serve, while organizations are also encouraged to sign up and become partners with the film and its message. Opportunities to learn more about giving, volunteering, sharing and following are provided athttp://unconditionalthemovie.com/act.

Commitment or the Pursuit of Happiness

Are we bending the rules to accommodate our own "happiness"?

Seems that adherence to truth is slowly sliding, slowly bending, like the Tower of Pisa. And the conception of what is upright has become blurred, and crooked;

So many people are bailing on their marriages because, well, they're just not happy. Their pursuit of happiness takes precedence to their pursuit of holiness. Most disturbing of all is the quantity of little hearts that are broken by their parents' choices . . .

Children of Angels

Here's a fun book for your kids this summer, Children of Angels. Children of Angels

Children of Angels

Life isn’t easy for seventh-grader Jeremy Lapoint. Dad’s in prison and Mom can barely afford garage-sale clothes. Everything changes when Jeremy discovers that he can fly, pass through walls, and see angels and demons. He is chased by a demon through school hallways, but his guardian angel, Asiel, fights it off. The angel explains that Jeremy is a Nephilim—a human-angel hybrid—but Asiel doesn’t know exactly how that happened. Jeremy then discovers other Nephilim teens.

The Nephilim teens later find a report that details the source of their unusual genetics. They are about to take the report as evidence, but a gorilla-sized demon and his soldiers challenge them. When Asiel announces that the Lord of Hosts has deemed Jeremy a Battle Leader of Angels, the boy is not happy. Can heaven really expect a thirteen-year-old loser to turn into a mighty warrior?
